Turn of political events

The turn of political events this past week has been nothing short of dramatic effects. The existence of two Perak state governments, one headed by Nizar and his excos who refused to resign and the other headed by newly installed Mentri Besar Zambry. It is a forgone conclusion which one will prevail since BN enjoys the support of the civil administration, the police and the armed forces.

Then there are the forthcoming bye-elections, one the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat whose PAS MP passed away and the other a Kedah state seat of Bukit Selambau vacated by Arumugan due to intense pressure.

In view of the current world economic situation, while most countries are busy trying to put their countries into a sound financial footing, we are busy playing politics--trying to secure party hopping and preparing to face expensive bye-elections.

The week that was saw the BN took back Perak in a very crude manner. Najib had done a most despicable act in wresting back the state of Perak from Pakatan Rakyat. I also think that the Perak royal house, particularly the Sultan and the Raja Muda had lost a lot of respect along with their credibility and reputation, not only in the eyes of their Perak subjects, me included, but also in the eyes of the international community. Their previous high sounding talks on good governance and moral high ground are now looked upon as something for show only. The Malays says: cakap tak serupa bikin. The English says: what you practise is not what you preach! And the Chinese says: 讲一套，做一套！

But not to despair! Many analysts are of the view that this is not entirely bad for PR because they see this as a catalyst to speed up the downfall of BN! Come the next GE or bye-elections. the rakyats are going to give BN a bitter lesson! The chances of an alternative central government is even brighter now!
